01 What to expect

From Afterpay cart to loan offer: know the whole process.

No surprises: here is exactly what the form asks for, how lenders decide, and what happens after you accept an offer.

What you'll need

  • Be 18+ and a US resident
  • A regular income source (job, benefits, self-employment)
  • An active checking account for deposit and repayment
  • A valid email and mobile number
  • Social Security number for identity & soft credit check

How lenders decide

  • Income and ability to repay matter most — not just your score
  • Fair and poor credit profiles are considered by many network lenders
  • State law sets the maximum APR and loan size where you live
  • Smaller requests ($200–$1,500) are approved most often
  • You can decline any offer with no cost or obligation

After you accept

  • E-sign the agreement — the APR, payment and total are fixed
  • Funds hit your checking account as soon as the next business day
  • Repay in equal monthly installments, usually by autopay
  • Most lenders allow early payoff with no penalty — check your agreement
  • On-time payments may be reported and can help build credit

Afterpay Pay in 4, Pay Monthly or a personal loan?

Afterpay is great for a $60–$1,000 cart you can clear in six weeks. A personal loan makes more sense when the amount is bigger, the store doesn't take Afterpay, or you need cash rather than a checkout button.

Does checking my rate affect my credit score?

No. Submitting the request uses a soft credit inquiry, which is not visible to other lenders and does not change your score. If you accept a lender's offer, that lender may run a hard inquiry before funding — they will tell you first.

How much can I borrow?

Lenders in the network offer personal loans from $200 up to $5,000. The amount you are offered depends on your income, credit history and state. Ask for what you need — a smaller request is often approved faster and costs less.

How fast can I get the money?

Most lenders give an answer within minutes during business hours. If you accept and e-sign, funds are typically deposited to your checking account as soon as the next business day, depending on your bank.

What will it cost?

The lender sets your APR (typically 5.99%–35.99%) and term (3–36 months) based on your profile and state law. Every offer shows the APR, the monthly payment and the total you will repay before you sign — there is no fee for using this site or for submitting a request.

Who sees my information?

Your request is sent securely to lenders and lending partners in the network so they can decide whether to make an offer. We do not sell your data to unrelated third parties. See the privacy policy for details on how information is handled.

Is this Afterpay?

No. AfterpayShopping.com is an independent guide to Afterpay and is not affiliated with Afterpay, Cash App or Block, Inc. This form connects you with personal-loan lenders — a separate product for when a six-week Pay in 4 split is not enough.

Important disclosures

Not a lender. AfterpayShopping.com is not a lender, loan broker or agent of any lender and does not make credit decisions. We operate a free service that connects you with a network of lenders and lending partners who may be able to offer personal loans of $200–$5,000. Submitting a request does not guarantee an offer, and not all applicants qualify.

Rates and terms. APRs typically range from 5.99% to 35.99% with terms of 3 to 36 months; the lender sets your actual rate, fees and term based on your creditworthiness, income and state law. Some lenders may charge an origination fee, which will be disclosed before you sign. Loans are not available in all states. Late or missed payments may result in additional fees and may be reported to credit bureaus.

Credit checks. Lenders in the network use a soft inquiry to pre-qualify you, which does not affect your credit score. If you proceed with an offer, the lender may perform a hard inquiry through one or more bureaus, which can affect your score.

Compensation. We may receive compensation from lenders or partners when you submit a request or accept an offer. This may influence which offers appear, but does not change the rate you are offered. See our advertiser disclosure, privacy policy and terms of use.
